Taraxacum subhamatum M.P. Christ., a dandelion

The re-determinations of P. Hackney's BEL vouchers of this Section in 2008 by A.J. Richards has resulted in one definite identification for this taxon and two less certain, where it remains just a possibility. The definite determination was for a dandelion collected on a grassy part of the shore of Mill Lough, 30 March 1975, accession number H5050.

Voucher H5004 collected on a moss-covered gravelly roadside bank near Knockmore Hill, 27 March 1975, was judged by Richards and the herbarium sheet annotated as being, "inadequate immature material, probably T. subhamatum", while a plant collected on a roadside at Slawin, near the shore of Lower Lough Erne, 28 March 1975, voucher H5028, he regarded as being, "perhaps T. subhamatum, but too immature".

The map for this taxon in the Field Handbook does not include any indication of Fermanagh records existing, so very probably Richards has had further thoughts, or doubts, regarding the identity of the Hackney H33 specimens

This microspecies has been previously only known from two VCs in eastern Ireland, Co Kildare (H19) and Co Dublin (H21), both of which are remote from Fermanagh.
