Taraxacum scotiniforme Dahlst. ex G.E. Haglund, a dandelion

A.J. Richards' 2008 re-determination of voucher H5026 makes this a new Irish record for this microspecies. The specimen was collected 27 March 1975, on a roadside verge near Glenwinny Hill, NE of Derrygonnelly. The comment made on the specimen sheet by Richards on this determination was, "A very good match for this rare relative of Taraxacum maculatum, apparently new to Ireland. Poorly preserved; I can't see style colour.".

The Dandelion Handbook regards T. scotiniforme as a scarce microspecies,

mainly occurring in S England. It has been recorded, however, in England as far north as Westmorland and Furness (VC 69) and Cumberland (VC 70). While so far it remains absent from mainland Scotland, it has been recorded from Shetland (VC 112). The Field Handbook hectad map contains records in Ireland from three widely scattered squares in the RoI, with no sign of the Fermanagh or any other NI records (Richards 2021).
