Taraxacum longisquameum H. Lindb. f., a dandelion
This is yet another solitary Fermanagh dandelion record produced as a result of A.J. Richards' 2008 re-determination of BEL vouchers. The identification in this instance is not absolute: there is a degree of uncertainty, but in Richards' opinion the above is the name that best applies. The specimen was collected on 28 March 1975 from a flat, grassy roadside verge at Roosky Td, 7 km NW of Enniskillen, voucher H5034.
T. longisquameum is listed in the 1997 Dandelion Handbook as having been recorded in two VCs in Ireland, Cos Down (H38) and Londonderry (H40), and the map plots three coastal hectads, the only ones on the island of Ireland until then. The Field Handbook treatment now includes an additional three hectads containing records in more inland areas of the Irish midlands (Richards 2021).
