Taraxacum britannicum Dahlst., a dandelion

Voucher H5008, collected on 27 March 1975 from a streamside bank at Stratonagher Td near Derrygonnelly, was re-examined by A.J. Richards in 2008 who wrote of it, "An interesting plant collected very early. Probably Taraxacum britannicum Dahlst., but possibly a new Celtica. Site should be revisited (33 years on!)."

While the identification of the Stratonagher specimen is merely tentative, T. britannicum has a mainly western distribution in B & I and according to the Dandelion Handbook it has been previously recorded from 19 hectads across nine Irish VCs (Dudman & Richards 1997). The nearest of these to Fermanagh was in adjacent Co Tyrone (H36), although it has also been found in three other NI VCs, Cos Down (H38), Antrim (H39) and Londonderry (H40).

The hectad map in the Field Handbook now plots records in around 30 widely scattered Irish squares (Richards 2021).
